Biography
Jimmy Higdon is a Republican Kentucky State Senator representing District 14, which includes Marion, LaRue, Nelson, Spencer, Washington, and Casey counties, along with a portion of Jefferson County. Born in 1953, he is a small business owner from Lebanon, Kentucky, and a Catholic. He has served in the Kentucky legislature since 2003, first in the House of Representatives until 2009, then winning a special election to the Senate. Notable leadership roles include Majority Caucus Whip and Senate President Pro Tempore . He currently chairs the Senate Transportation Committee, where he has secured funding for major infrastructure projects like the Brent Spence Bridge and Mountain Parkway expansion. Higdon serves on committees such as Education, Veterans, Military Affairs, Public Protection, and Licensing and Occupations, and is involved in caucuses including the Aerospace/Aviation, Kentucky Sportsmen’s, Central Kentucky, and Bourbon Trail Caucuses. He also serves on the Marion County Economic Development Board, Nelson County Economic Development Authority, Kentucky Workforce Innovation Board, and Affordable Housing Trust Committee, and was a member of the 2024 Kentucky Housing Task Force. Married to Jane, they have two children, three grandchildren, and a granddog.
