Biography
Jim Shaw is a Republican representative for Oklahoma House District 32, which encompasses all of Lincoln County, as well as Perkins in Payne County and Meridian in Logan County. Elected in 2024 after defeating incumbent Kevin Wallace in a record-breakingly expensive Republican primary runoff, he was sworn in on November 20, 2024, for the 60th Legislature. A Chandler resident since 2021, Shaw is an entrepreneur in the oil and gas industry, previously serving as President and COO of Land Information Services and Manager of Software and Business Division at PakEnergy . He is married to Danna, whom he met at college, and they have two daughters whom they homeschool. Notable positions include Vice Chair of the State Powers Committee, and service on the Appropriations and Budget Natural Resources Subcommittee, Government Modernization and Technology Committee, and Government Oversight Committee. Shaw opposes industrial wind and solar energy expansion, foreign ownership of Oklahoma land, and biosolids; he has advanced bills like HB1453 to impose felony penalties on prohibited foreign land acquisitions.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from Putnam City High School; earned a bachelor's degree in finance and accounting from Oklahoma State University in 2006.
- Political Experience: First elected to the Oklahoma House in 2024, defeating Kevin Wallace in the August primary runoff . Campaign emphasized anti-green energy policies and was supported by significant out-of-state funding, making it the most expensive Oklahoma House race in history. Currently filing bills for the 2026 session on local decision-making and foreign land ownership restrictions.
