Biography
Jim Murphy is a Republican politician and businessman born on December 8, 1957, in Houston, Texas. He represented Texas House District 133 from 2007 to 2009 and again from 2011 onward, serving as a key figure in the Texas House of Representatives. A commercial real estate agent, he lives in Village Place with his wife, Kathleen, and their two sons. Murphy is a University of Texas at Austin alumnus and life member of Texas Exes. Notable achievements include being elected president of the freshman class in 2007, authoring and passing 15 bills in his first term , and serving as Texas House Republican Caucus Floor Leader during the 84th Legislative Session. He has chaired committees such as Corrections and Ways and Means, and previously the House GOP Caucus and Higher Education Committee.
