Biography
Jim Murphy - Missouri State Representative
Jim Murphy is a Republican state representative who represents District 94 in the Missouri House of Representatives, serving parts of St. Louis County. He was first elected to his two-year term in November 2018. Murphy resides in St. Louis with his wife, Maryellen, and they have three children and 12 grandchildren together. He was born in New York and now attends Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque Church with his family.
Education
Murphy graduated from Newport News High School before attending North Carolina State University.
Political Experience and Notable Positions
Murphy serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Fiscal Review. He is also a member of the House Committee on Insurance, the Joint Committee on Government Accountability, and the House Committee on Government Efficiency.
Beyond his legislative role, Murphy brings extensive business experience to his position. He is the owner and operator of Shoppers Rule, Inc. Prior to establishing his own company, he served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Tacony Corporation in Fenton. His business background informs his approach to governance, as he applies problem-solving skills developed in the private sector to legislative matters affecting both local business owners and constituents in District 94.
