Biography
Jim Minnix is a Republican representing Kansas House District 118, the largest House district in the state, covering Sheridan, Logan, Gove, Trego, Greeley, Wichita, Scott, Lane, and Ness counties. A fourth-generation Scott County farmer managing 6,600 acres in Scott and Wichita Counties, he was elected to the Kansas House in 2020 and has served since 2021. Previously, he served 26 years as Scott County Commissioner, including leadership roles as President of the Southwest Kansas Highway Officials, Kansas Legislative Policy Group, and Kansas County Commissioners Association. Notable positions include Chair of the House Water Committee , and member of the Agriculture and Natural Resources and Transportation committees. He is a strong conservative advocate for lowering taxes, funding roads and schools, defending the Second Amendment, supporting agriculture, and protecting rural values.
