Biography
James J. Kennedy is a Democratic member of the New Jersey General Assembly representing District 22, which spans parts of Middlesex, Somerset, and Union counties, including municipalities such as Rahway, Plainfield, Linden, Clark, Fanwood, Scotch Plains, and others. Born on February 9, 1953, in Rahway, New Jersey, he was first elected to the Assembly on November 3, 2015, and has served since 2016. Notable achievements include his long tenure as Mayor of Rahway from 1991 to 2010, his role as Principal of Skye Consulting , and previous ownership of Kennedy Jewelers. In the Assembly, he chairs the Environment and Solid Waste Committee, vice-chairs the Tourism, Gaming & the Arts Committee, and serves on the Transportation & Independent Authorities Committee. He previously served on the Rahway Senior Housing Corporation, the Board of Directors at RWJ University Hospital Rahway, and as a panelist/delegate to World Water Forums in Istanbul, Marseille, and Mexico City. He resides in Rahway with his wife, Lori.
