Biography

Jim Hughes is a Republican politician from Ohio who served as a state representative for the 24th District of the Ohio House of Representatives, covering portions of Columbus, Grove City, Hilliard, Upper Arlington, and Worthington in Franklin County. He previously represented the Ohio Senate's 16th District from 2009 to 2016 and held House seats from 2000 to 2008 and in 2017-2018. Currently, he serves as Chairman of the Ohio Industrial Commission , appointed by Governor Mike DeWine. Notable achievements include sponsoring legislation for tougher criminal penalties, child protection, tax reform, business incentives, school safety plans, high-volume breeder standards, and the Common Sense Initiative to reduce regulations; he received awards like Legislator of the Year from the FOP, Ohio Fire Chiefs Association, Ohio Nurses Association, and others.
