Biography
Jim Hill is a Republican member of the Alabama House of Representatives, representing District 50 since November 5, 2014. His current term ends on November 4, 2026. He previously served as a circuit judge and district judge in St. Clair County , where he contributed to initiatives like the St. Clair Drug Court, Domestic Violence Program, a juvenile offenders day program, and an early warning system with schools. He is married to Susan, with children James E. Hill and Elizabeth Hill Cheney, and is Baptist.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: BS from Mississippi State University; J.D. from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University.
- Professional Background: Private law practice for nearly 20 years; President of the Alabama League of Municipalities City Attorney Association; St. Clair County District Judge ; St. Clair County Circuit Judge , including service on the Governor’s Task Force on Prison Overcrowding.
- Political Experience: Elected to Alabama House District 50 in 2014, re-elected in 2018 and 2022 . Chairs the House Judiciary Committee ; member of the Joint Legislative Prison Committee. Former member of the Ethics and Campaign Finance Committee. Campaign priorities include economic improvement, job growth, ethics, accountability, and public education.
