Biography

Jim Haddock

Jim Haddock is a Democratic member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, representing the 118th Legislative District since 2023. The district encompasses parts of Luzerne and Lackawanna counties, including Pittston, Avoca, and surrounding municipalities.

Haddock is from Pittston Township and has deep roots in his community through decades of public and private service. He served as mayor of Avoca for eight years, overseeing a period of economic and financial progress without raising taxes. Prior to his mayoral tenure, he was a member of the Pittston Area Board of Education.

Before his election to the state house, Haddock worked in the banking industry for over 25 years, holding positions at institutions ranging from major national banks to small community banks in Lackawanna and Luzerne counties. He also served as clerk of courts and prothonotary manager in Luzerne County for 10 years and is the owner of Haddock Rentals, which has served the Greater Pittston area for over 35 years.

Education

Haddock's education includes attendance at Luzerne County Community College and Wilkes-Barre Vo-Tech. He graduated from the Pennsylvania Bankers Association's Advanced School of Banking at Bucknell University and has completed numerous professional banking courses including AIB and OMEGA certifications.

Political Experience

In the Pennsylvania House, Haddock has focused on education funding, workers' rights, and cost of living issues. He has advocated for increasing funding for public schools, supported workers' right to unionize, and fought to lower the cost of living for Pennsylvanians.

Haddock is active in numerous community organizations, including service on the Pennsylvania Mining and Reclamation Advisory Board, the Greater Pittston Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and the Luzerne County Rail Authority Board of Directors. He is also president of the Valley Rod and Gun Club and holds memberships in various community service organizations.
