Biography
Jim Buck is a Republican state senator representing Indiana Senate District 21, which includes Tipton County and portions of Hamilton and Howard counties . Born on July 30, 1945, in Logansport, Indiana, he resides in Kokomo with his wife Judy and has five children. A retired real estate broker and tool and die mold maker, he is Baptist and involved in community organizations including the Rotary Club, Mason Lodge No. 93, Learning Network Board, Indiana University Kokomo Advisory Board, American Legislative Exchange Council board of directors, and as vice president of the We Care board. Notable achievements include serving as former national chair of the American Legislative Exchange Council, Majority Floor Leader Emeritus , and chair of the Senate Committee on Local Government.
Education and Political Experience
Education: Attended Toccoa Falls Bible College; earned a BA and BS in Business Administration, plus an MBA, from Indiana Wesleyan University.
Political Experience: Elected to the Indiana House of Representatives ; Indiana State Senate, District 21 . Serves on Senate committees including Environmental Affairs, Homeland Security and Transportation, Judiciary, Rules and Legislative Procedure, and Veterans Affairs and The Military; chairs Local Government and Government Interim Study committees. Previously chaired Commerce, Economic Development and Technology; former member of Civil Law, Elections, Tax and Fiscal Policy, and Utilities committees.
