Biography
James "Jim" Beach is a Democratic state senator representing New Jersey's 6th Legislative District since 2009. Born on October 28, 1946, in Voorhees, New Jersey, he has served as Assistant Majority Leader and Deputy Majority Whip in the Senate. Notable achievements include his appointment to the Senate in 2009 to succeed John Adler, winning a subsequent special election, and re-election in 2023 with his current term ending January 11, 2028. He is co-chairman of Camden County’s Democratic Party and serves on boards for organizations like the Camden County Red Cross, Junior Achievement, March of Dimes, United Way, and Kennedy Hospital Community Advisory Board. Beach is married to Linda, with two children and six grandchildren.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in psychology and physical education from Midwestern College; master's degree in personnel services from Rowan University; ABD in Educational Administration from Nova University.
- Early Career: Former educator and football coach at high schools including Woodrow Wilson, St. Joseph’s , and Highland Regional ; retired as director of vocational education for Black Horse Pike Regional School District; current property damage specialist at All Risk.
