Biography

Jill Krowinski is a Democratic representative for Chittenden-16 in the Vermont House of Representatives, serving since 2012. She has held prominent leadership roles, including House Majority Leader and Speaker of the House since 2021, making her the 92nd Speaker and fourth female Speaker.

Born on January 5, 1980, in Kenmore, New York, and raised in North Tonawanda, Jill Krowinski graduated from North Tonawanda High School in 1998. She moved to Vermont in 2002 after college to work on Democratic campaigns, drawn by the state's early legalization of civil unions. A resident of Burlington, she was appointed to the Vermont House in 2012 by Governor Peter Shumlin to fill a vacancy and has been reelected since. Notable achievements include her unanimous nomination and election as Speaker in 2021, leadership on the Health Care Oversight Committee and Vermont Child Poverty Council , and service as a delegate to the American Council of Young Political Leaders in the Philippines. She has also served on community boards, including as a Commissioner for the Fletcher Free Library.
