Biography
Jesse Young is a Republican politician who represented Washington's 26th Legislative District in the state House of Representatives from 2014 to 2022. Appointed in 2014 to replace Jan Angel after her election to the state Senate, he won election later that year and served four terms before running unsuccessfully for the 26th District Senate seat in 2022 against Democrat Emily Randall. A father of six from Gig Harbor, Young grew up poor in Tacoma, experiencing homelessness at times, yet excelled academically as valedictorian of Wilson High School in 1995; he operates an IT consulting business and previously worked in software consulting and at Russell Investments. His legislative priorities include job growth , controlling healthcare costs, fiscal responsibility, and opposing tax increases for Seattle projects while limiting Tacoma Narrows Bridge tolls; he served on committees for rules, technology and economics, and transportation.
