Biography
Jesse Sumner
Jesse Sumner is an American politician and a lifelong resident of the Mat-Su Valley in Alaska. He is a co-owner of Sumner Company Homes, which he operates alongside his brother Maxwell. Beyond his business ventures, Sumner has been actively involved in local civic organizations, serving on the Wasilla Planning Commission and as vice-chair of the Alaska Policy Forum, a conservative think tank.
Education
Sumner earned a Bachelor's degree in Physics from the University of California in 2007.
Political Experience
Sumner is a Republican who represents District 28 in the Alaska House of Representatives. He was first elected to this position in 2022 and has been serving as State Representative since 2023.
Prior to his election to the state legislature, Sumner served on the Matanuska-Susitna Borough Assembly from 2018 to 2023, representing the North Palmer and Wasilla districts. He initially ran for re-election to the Alaska House in 2024 but withdrew from the primary election, citing family concerns.
