Biography
Jesse L. Petrea III is a Republican representing Georgia House District 166, which includes much of Chatham and Bryan counties. He serves as Chairman of the House Human Resources & Aging Committee and holds memberships on committees including Appropriations, Health and Human Services, Public Safety and Homeland Security, Game, Fish and Parks, Natural Resources and Environment, Industry and Labor, and the Special Committee on Healthcare. A Savannah native, he is the president of Green Heron Consulting, LLC, a healthcare consulting firm; previously vice president of development for Help at Home; and co-owner of Coastal Home Care, Inc. and Altrus, Inc. for 28 years until their 2019 sale. He has led Georgia's home and community-based services since 1992, serving in advisory roles and as director/president of trade associations. Petrea also manages commercial real estate and timberland, and serves on the board of the Health Care Mutual Captive Insurance Company. He and his wife Brianna have two children and three grandchildren, and he is active in Calvary Baptist Church, Forest City Gun Club, Sons of the Revolution, Georgia Forestry Association, and several Republican clubs.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduate of Benedictine Military School; Bachelor of Science in Biology from Armstrong State College .
- Political Experience: Sworn into the Georgia House of Representatives on January 12, 2015, as a business owner and healthcare executive. Notable leadership includes chairing the Human Resources & Aging Committee and serving on key committees focused on healthcare, aging, appropriations, and public safety.
