Biography
Jesse Green is a Republican State Senator representing District 24 in Iowa, which includes Boone, Greene, Hamilton counties, and portions of Webster and Story counties. A fifth-generation farmer born and raised near Harcourt, he manages a family farm raising corn, beans, oats, hay, bucking horses for rodeo, and longhorn cattle. Elected in 2020 after winning a four-way Republican primary and defeating Democrat Cynthia Oppedal Paschen 65.7% to 34.2%, he replaced retiring Senator Jerry Behn. Notable achievements include serving as the youngest chairman in the 80-year history of the Dayton Rodeo and receiving the Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance Top 10 Under 40 Young Professionals Award in 2017. He prioritizes a pro-life agenda, advocating for a constitutional amendment to enable measures like the Heartbeat Bill. Green serves on committees including Agriculture, Appropriations, Education , International Relations, Judiciary, State Government, and Ways and Means.
Education and Political Experience
Green attended Community Christian School in Fort Dodge, where he later taught Bible classes to 5th-8th graders, and taught at Trinity Lutheran in Boone after moving there; Pilgrim's Progress was his favorite book and class to teach. His political experience began with his 2020 election to the Iowa Senate, where he continues to serve as a Republican from District 24. Prior community involvement includes Webster County Farm Bureau and leadership on the Dayton Rodeo and Celebration Committee starting at age 24.
