Biography

Jeremy Miller

Jeremy Miller is a Republican state senator from Winona, Minnesota, representing the 26th District, which encompasses Fillmore, Houston, Mower, and Winona counties. Born and raised in Winona, he graduated from Winona Senior High School in 2001. He is a lifelong resident of southeastern Minnesota and lives in Winona with his wife, Janel, and their three sons.

Miller is the Chief Financial Officer of Wm. Miller Scrap and Disposal, a family-owned recycling business dating back to 1910. He represents the fourth generation of his family involved in the company and manages accounting, business development, marketing, human resources, and domestic and global sales operations.

Education

Miller earned an Associate Degree in Accounting from Minnesota State College–Southeast Technical in Winona in 2004.

Political Experience

Miller was first elected to the Minnesota State Senate in 2010 at age 27, becoming the second-youngest Minnesotan ever to serve in the state Senate. He has been continuously re-elected in 2012, 2016, 2020, and 2022, currently serving his fifth term.

He has held several notable leadership positions, including:

  • President of the Senate , becoming the youngest senator in Minnesota history to hold this role
  • Senate Majority Leader
  • Deputy Majority Leader
  • Chairman of the Senate Jobs and Economic Growth Committee
  • Vice Chair and Ranking Member of the Senate Higher Education Committee

Miller currently serves on the Education Policy, Rules and Administration, and Taxes committees. He has received multiple legislative awards, including the '20 Under 40' Leadership Award from the Council of State Governments and recognition for his support of clean energy, public safety, education, workforce development, and services for seniors and people with disabilities.
