Biography
Jeramey Anderson is a Democratic member of the Mississippi House of Representatives, representing District 110 . Born on December 6, 1991, in Pascagoula, Mississippi, he made history at age 21 by becoming the youngest African American ever elected to a state legislature in the United States and the youngest individual elected to the Mississippi Legislature following a special election on November 5, 2013. Notable achievements include founding the Foundation for a Brighter America at age 16—a mentoring organization for boys ages 11-18, where he serves as Executive Director; founding nexiWorks, a digital marketing company, in 2020 as CEO; co-chairing the Mississippi Future Caucus; serving on the Advisory Board for Let America Vote; and being honored by the United Nations as one of the world's most influential people of African descent under 40. He has authored and co-authored legislation on minimum wage increases, public education funding, wage equality, criminal justice reform, and childcare subsidies. Anderson serves in House Democratic leadership as Chairman of Caucus Operations and on committees including House Judiciary B, Drug Policy, Investigation of State Offices, Universities & Colleges, and Marine Resources.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Associate degree in Criminal Justice from Pearl River Community College; Bachelor's degree in Homeland Security from Tulane University.
- Political Experience: Elected to Mississippi House District 110 in special election ; reelected in 2015, 2019 , and continues serving multiple terms; unsuccessfully ran for U.S. House in 2018.
