Jenniffer González-Colón is the Republican Governor of Puerto Rico, serving since January 2, 2025, after being elected on November 5, 2024. Born on August 5, 1976, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, she previously served as Puerto Rico's Resident Commissioner to the U.S. House of Representatives from 2017 to 2025, becoming the first woman and youngest person to hold that non-voting position. A lifelong Republican and advocate for Puerto Rico statehood, she has prioritized economic recovery, equal federal treatment for Puerto Rico's residents, and post-hurricane relief efforts following Irma and Maria, securing over $30 billion in federal appropriations.
