Biography
Jennifer Wortz
Jennifer Wortz is a Republican member of the Michigan House of Representatives, representing the 35th district since January 2025. Her district encompasses the City of Hudson in Lenawee County and all of Hillsdale and Branch Counties.
Wortz grew up on a small cash crop and beef farm in southern Hillsdale County and has been a resident of Branch County for over 20 years. She resides in Quincy with her husband, Nate, and their four children and two grandchildren. She owns and operates Central Grace Farms, a chicken farm that supplies poultry to Miller Poultry.
Education
Wortz graduated from Waldron Area Schools in 1997 and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Communications from Michigan State University in 2000.
Political Experience
Wortz has held several positions in public service and community leadership:
- Michigan House of Representatives : Elected in November 2024 with 74% of the vote against her Democratic opponent
- Vice Chair of the House Agriculture Committee: Serves on the House Natural Resources and Tourism Committee, House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, and Joint Committee on Administrative Rules
- Branch County Conservation District: Served as manager before her election to the House
- Quincy Community Schools Board of Education: Elected member from 2017 to 2019
- Branch County Republican Party: Currently serves as vice chair
- Branch County Moms for Liberty: Founder and chair from 2021 to 2023
- Branch County Sheriff's Office: Victim Care Officer since 2020
- Beginnings Care for Life Center: Volunteer for over 10 years
In her 2024 campaign for the House seat, Wortz won the Republican primary with 52% of the vote, defeating Hillsdale Mayor Adam Stockford and Branch County Commissioner Tom Matthew.
