Biography
Jennifer Mandelbaum is a Democratic representative for Rockingham 21 in the New Hampshire House of Representatives, serving Portsmouth and Newington. Elected in a March 2024 special election, she has championed policies on community health, climate resilience, economic well-being, and chronic disease prevention. Since January 2025, she serves as Clerk of the State-Federal Relations and Veterans Affairs Committee, and holds roles including Member of the Long-term Seacoast Commission on Drinking Water , Board member of the New Hampshire Public Health Association , and Trustee of the Portsmouth Public Library . A public health expert and Mixed Methods Research Manager at athenahealth, she also teaches part-time at Tufts University’s Department of Community Health. Notable achievements include the 2022 Rising Star Award from the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors, 2023 Early Career Award from APHA’s Public Health Education section, Seacoast 10 to Watch , Boston Congress of Public Health’s 40 Under 40 , and New Hampshire Union Leader’s 40 Under Forty .

Education: BA from Brandeis University, MPH from Yale University, PhD from University of South Carolina.
