Jen Lunsford is a Democratic/Working Families member of the New York State Assembly representing the 135th Assembly District on the east side of Monroe County, which includes the towns of Penfield, East Rochester, Perinton, Pittsford and Mendon, along with the villages of Pittsford, Fairport and Honeoye Falls. She was elected to office in 2020.
Originally from Long Island, Lunsford moved to Monroe County in 2009 following her graduation from law school. Prior to taking office, she spent eleven years practicing plaintiff's side personal injury, workers' compensation and social security disability law, serving clients throughout Western New York, Central New York and the Finger Lakes regions.
Lunsford has been deeply involved in community activism and volunteering, focusing on reproductive justice, criminal justice and universal healthcare. She served as state co-chair of Lawyers for Good Government and as a board member for the Anthony Poselovich Foundation. In the legislature, she currently serves as Democratic Majority Steering Vice Chair. As a mother and homeowner, she advocates for policies that support families and provide economic opportunity.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Philosophy from Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York
- Juris Doctor from Boston University School of Law, where she concentrated in healthcare law and won the Dean's Award for Constitutional Law; she was appointed as an editor to the American Journal of Law and Medicine
