Biography

Jefferson R. Moss is an American entrepreneur and Republican politician who represented Utah House District 51 from 2017 until resigning on May 30, 2025. He served as House Majority Leader from November 2023, following roles as Majority Whip and Executive Appropriations Vice Chair. In May 2025, Governor Spencer Cox appointed him Executive Director of the Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity, where he oversees business development, innovation, and economic strategy. Previously, he was Associate Vice President and Foundation COO at Utah Valley University, launching the UVU Wolverine Fund and Excellence and Innovation Initiative. Earlier roles include wealth strategist at Credit Suisse and KeyBank, and founder of successful businesses. He also served on the Utah State Board of Education, Saratoga Springs City Council, and Planning Commission. Notable achievements include advocacy for public education, energy, government efficiency, and economic development.
