Biography
Jeff Taylor is a Republican state senator representing District 2 in the Iowa Senate, serving since January 2021. Born January 30, 1961, in Spencer, Iowa, he is a sixth-generation Iowan, professor of political science at Dordt University, author of three books on politics, and former political analyst for KCAU-TV. A constitutional conservative, he emphasizes values like decentralism, morality, freedom, grassroots politics, common sense, and community. Notable achievements include serving as a delegate to the Republican National Conventions in 2012 and 2024, early advocacy of horseshoe theory in political ideology, and unopposed reelection in 2024. He is married with two children and currently serves as Vice Chair of the Education Committee, with roles on Judiciary, Local Government, Technology, Ways and Means, and Workforce committees.
