Biography

Jeff Landry is a Republican politician serving as the 57th Governor of Louisiana since January 8, 2024. Born on December 23, 1970, in St. Martinville, Louisiana, he grew up in a small town where his mother was a schoolteacher and his family emphasized faith and hard work. Landry served in the Louisiana Army National Guard during Operation Desert Storm, worked as a police officer and sheriff’s deputy, owned an oil and gas environmental service company, and led the St. Martin Parish Economic Development Authority. He resides in Broussard with his wife, Sharon, and son, J.T. Previously, he represented Louisiana's 3rd Congressional District as a U.S. Representative from 2011 to 2013 and served as Louisiana's Attorney General from 2016 to 2024. Notable achievements include advancing pro-growth policies that improved Louisiana’s economic ranking from 31st to 18th, enacting historic tax cuts attracting over $50 billion in investments, education reforms boosting student scores , and reducing violent crime in New Orleans by 43%. As Attorney General, he tackled the opioid crisis, welfare fraud, and reformed the Department of Justice by creating the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation and Solicitor General’s office.
