Biography

Jeff Jackson is a Democrat who previously represented North Carolina's 37th Senate District . Born on November 12, 1982, he is a military veteran, former prosecutor, state senator, U.S. Representative for NC-14, and since January 2025, the Attorney General of North Carolina. He is married to Marisa Jackson and has three children: Haden, Owen, and Avery. Jackson enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve after 9/11, served in Afghanistan, and continues as a Major in the North Carolina Army National Guard in his 22nd year of service, providing legal counsel in the Judge Advocate General's Corps.

Notable achievements include securing over $7 billion from pharmaceutical companies for the opioid crisis, suing landlords for illegal rent hikes, and recovering $150K for scam victims as Attorney General; advancing criminal justice reform , public education investments, clean energy, and racial justice as a state senator; and trying over 200 cases as an Assistant District Attorney in Gaston County.

  • Education: Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Philosophy from Emory University ; J.D. from University of North Carolina School of Law , funded by the G.I. Bill.
