Biography
Jeff Dotseth is a Republican member of the Minnesota House of Representatives, representing District 11A in northeastern Minnesota, including the city of Cloquet, Thomson Township, and parts of Carlton, Pine, and St. Louis Counties. Born on July 8, 1967, in Hennepin County, Minnesota, he resides in Kettle River, Carlton County. He is married to Melissa and has three children. Dotseth works as a real estate agent, small-business owner , and farmer in agriculture. He was first elected in 2022 after unsuccessful runs in 2018 and 2020, defeating DFL incumbent Mike Sundin and later Pete Radosevich; he won re-election in 2024 with 51.19% of the vote. He serves on the Commerce Finance and Policy Committee and as Co-Vice Chair of the Housing Finance and Policy Committee. A notable position includes co-sponsoring a 2025 bill designating mRNA treatments, including certain COVID-19 vaccines, as "weapons of mass destruction," which proposed criminal penalties for possession or administration.
