Biography

Jonathan E. "Jed" Arnold is a Republican who served as a member of the Virginia House of Delegates representing District 46 . Born in 1979 in Abingdon, Virginia, he is a Caucasian male, Presbyterian, married to Melanie S. Arnold, with three children: Hudson, Delaney, and Jack. An attorney by profession, Arnold was elected in an August 2023 special election to District 6 and later represented District 46 , Smyth, and Wythe. He announced in March 2025 that he would not seek re-election to focus on supporting his wife through her battle with long COVID. Notable committee assignments included Courts of Justice and General Laws .

Education and Political Experience

  • Education: Radford University ; Appalachian School of Law .
  • Political Experience: Served from August 29, 2023, initially in District 6 , and Wythe, then District 46 starting in 2024. Ran unopposed in the 2023 general election for District 46. His seat was succeeded by Republican Mitchell Cornett in the November 2025 election.
