Biography
Jean Schmidt is a Republican state representative for Ohio's 62nd House District, which covers the northwestern portion of Clermont County. Born in 1951 in Cincinnati, Ohio, she is a proven conservative with a long history of public service, including roles as Miami Township trustee , Ohio House representative , and U.S. House representative for Ohio's 2nd District , where she was the first woman to serve southern Ohio in Congress. Notable achievements include forming CLOUT , creating the Miami Township Park System, advocating for domestic violence victims and child protection, supporting tax cuts and criminal justice reform, and chairing the Ohio House Health Committee while serving on Finance, Financial Institutions, and Local Government committees. She has run 172 marathons across all 50 states, including 24 Boston Marathons, and volunteers coaching cross-country, teaching government at Chatfield College, and aiding drug crisis victims at City Gospel Mission.
