Biography

Jayme M. Davis is a Democratic member of the North Dakota House of Representatives, representing District 9 . A member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Ojibwe/Standing Rock Nation from Belcourt, ND, she has served since 2023, initially elected to district 9A and now the reconstituted 9th district. She is the House Minority Caucus Leader and the first Native American to hold a leadership position in the North Dakota State Legislature. Notable achievements include passing North Dakota’s Indian Child Welfare Act, co-chairing the North Dakota Future Caucus, and selection for the 2024 Future Caucus Innovation Fellowship in the Criminal Justice Reform cohort. She serves on committees such as Emergency Response Services, Human Services, Rural Health Transformation, and the Children's Cabinet Missing Indigenous People Task Force.

  • Education: BS in Business Management from the University of Mary; Master's candidate in Public Affairs/Federal Indian Law & Sovereignty at the Humphrey School, University of Minnesota.
