Biography
Jay Xiong is a Hmong American politician and member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party *, representing *House District 67B in Ramsey County, which includes parts of Saint Paul's lower east side. First elected in 2018, he replaced retiring Rep. Sheldon Johnson and became the first person of color to hold the seat in this majority-minority district. As of recent records, he is serving his fifth term as a community organizer and state representative, championing workforce development, veterans' affairs, arts, health, voting rights, and environmental initiatives like Minnesota's 100% carbon-free electricity goal by 2040.
Notable achievements include securing over $1 million for Hmong entrepreneurs through the Hmong Chamber of Commerce and leadership on key legislation supporting the East Side of Saint Paul. He currently serves as Co-Chair of the Veterans and Military Affairs Division and sits on the Capital Investment and Legacy Finance Committees .
