Senator Jay Trumbull

Jay Norbert Trumbull was born on February 21, 1989, in Panama City, Florida. He is a Republican who currently serves in the Florida State Senate representing District 2, which encompasses Bay, Calhoun, Holmes, Jackson, Walton, and Washington counties, along with part of Okaloosa county.

Trumbull comes from a prominent business family with deep roots in the water conditioning industry. The Trumbull family has been involved in the bottled water and water conditioning business for over four generations and currently owns seven Culligan dealerships across Florida, Alabama, and Georgia. He began working in the family business at age 14.

Education

Trumbull graduated from Bay High School and attended Auburn University, where he earned a degree in Small Business Management and Entrepreneurship in 2011. After completing his degree, he joined his father in the family business, initially working as a truck driver for two years before transitioning to dealer management.

Political Experience

Trumbull was first elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2014, representing the 6th District, which includes Panama City in southern Bay County. He served in the House for eight years until 2022. During his tenure, he championed legislation focused on protecting the elderly, combating inflation, and supporting Bay County's recovery following Hurricane Michael.

In 2022, Trumbull was elected to the Florida State Senate for District 2. He currently serves as Chair of the Appropriations Committee on Health and Human Services and holds membership on the Appropriations, Community Affairs, Health Policy, Judiciary, and Rules committees. His current term extends through 2030.
