Biography
Jay Hoffman
Jay C. Hoffman is a Democratic member of the Illinois State House of Representatives, representing District 113, which includes areas in the Metro East region including Belleville and Swansea. Born November 6, 1961, in Highland, Illinois, Hoffman is an attorney by profession and has been married with two children.
Education
Hoffman earned his B.S. in Finance from Illinois State University in 1983 and his J.D. from St. Louis University School of Law.
Political Experience
Hoffman has served in the Illinois State House of Representatives for District 113 during multiple periods: January 1991–January 1997, October 1997–January 2011, and January 2013 to the present. He currently holds the position of Assistant Majority Leader of the Illinois State House of Representatives, a role he has held since 2019.
Throughout his tenure, Hoffman has served on numerous committees including the Labor and Commerce Committee, where he chairs the Subcommittee on Business and Industry Innovation, as well as the Judiciary-Civil Committee, Public Utilities Committee, and Cities and Villages Committee. Previously, he served as Conference Chair and held positions on committees related to appropriations and worker's compensation.
Beyond his legislative work, Hoffman serves as Principal Attorney at Hoffman Law Firm Professional Corporation and as Vice President of Business Development for Citizens Rx, roles he has held since 2011. He formerly served as Director of Probation and Court Services for the 20th Judicial Circuit Court.
