Biography
Jay Fisher
Jay Fisher is a Republican representing District 5 in the North Dakota House of Representatives, serving the Minot area. He has been a member of the legislature since 2019. Fisher is an agronomist by profession and has been instrumental in developing agricultural and infrastructure solutions throughout his career.
Before entering the state legislature, Fisher spent 22 years as the director of the NDSU North Central Research Extension Center. He subsequently established Fisher Research LLC, a value-added agriculture company, and serves as president of L&Q Great Plains, which specializes in producing products and solutions for unpaved roads and soil-surfaced areas.
In 2026, Fisher announced his candidacy for the North Dakota State Senate seat representing his district, with a focus on workforce development and fiscal responsibility.
Education
Fisher holds both a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree from North Dakota State University .
Political Experience
Fisher has served in the North Dakota House of Representatives since 2019, representing District 5. He is a member of the House Committee on Appropriations, specifically the Government Operations Division. His legislative priorities include building workforce capacity through expanded apprenticeship opportunities and stackable credential programs, as well as ensuring responsible fiscal management by reducing unsustainable spending.
Personal: Fisher is married to Marlys and has 4 children and 10 grandchildren. He is also involved with Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.
