Biography
Jason Kropf is a Democratic member of the Oregon House of Representatives, representing District 54 . Elected in 2020, he assumed office in January 2021 after defeating incumbent Republican Cheri Helt. A fourth-generation Oregonian raised in a military and union family, he lives in Bend with his family and is committed to public service, community safety, and justice reform. Notable achievements include his appointment as Chair of the House Judiciary Committee in June 2022 and service on local boards such as the Bend Parks and Recreation District, Court Appointed Special Advocates of Central Oregon, and the City of Bend’s Accessibility Advisory Committee.
Education and Political Experience
Education: Graduated from Molalla Union High School; B.S. from Oregon State University; J.D. from the University of Oregon School of Law.
Political Experience: Over two decades as an attorney, including early career as a public defender in Portland and Bend, and later as Deputy District Attorney for Deschutes County. In the legislature, he chairs the House Judiciary Committee, co-chairs the House Committee on Conduct and Joint Committee on Addiction and Community Safety Response, and serves on additional committees including House Rules, Joint Legislative Counsel, and Joint Subcommittee on Capital Construction. He has volunteered as a mock trial coach since 2003 and coaches recreational soccer in Bend.
