Biography
Senator Jason Howell
Jason Glenn Howell is a Republican state senator from Kentucky, born December 19, 1970. He was born and raised in Fulton and currently resides in Murray. He is married with three children and is an active member of the Episcopal faith, attending St. John's Episcopal Church.
Howell is an attorney by profession and is a member of both the Kentucky Bar Association and the Calloway County Bar Association. Beyond his legislative work, he serves as a youth sports coach in his community.
Education
Howell earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of the South and his *Juris Doctor * from the University of Kentucky College of Law.
Political Experience
Howell was elected to the Kentucky State Senate in 2021 and represents the 1st Senate District, which encompasses Calloway, Crittenden, Fulton, Graves, Hickman, Lyon, and Trigg counties.
He serves on multiple standing committees, including Banking and Insurance, Economic Development, Tourism and Labor, and Licensing and Occupations. He was recently selected as Chairman of the Senate Agriculture Committee.
Notable policy positions and achievements include sponsoring legislation to lower income taxes, supporting efforts to establish a veterinary school at Murray State University, and sponsoring bills addressing voting eligibility. He is also known for his pro-life and pro-gun positions and his support for law enforcement initiatives.
