Biography
Jarrett Charles Coleman is a Republican member of the Pennsylvania State Senate representing the 16th District, which covers parts of the Lehigh Valley and Upper Bucks County. A ninth-generation Pennsylvanian and airline pilot, he was born and raised in the Lehigh Valley, where he lives in Breinigsville with his wife, Katie, their three children, and dogs. Coleman assumed office on January 3, 2023, after narrowly defeating 17-year incumbent Pat Browne in the 2022 Republican primary by 24 votes and Democrat Mark Pinsley in the general election. Prior to the Senate, he was elected to the Parkland School District Board in 2021, advocating against COVID-19 remote learning, mask mandates, and critical race theory instruction. Notable positions include chairing the Senate Intergovernmental Operations Committee, which reviews government restructuring proposals; vice chair of the Senate Finance Committee; and membership on committees such as Communications and Technology, Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure, Education, Local Government, Urban Affairs and Housing, Community, Economic and Recreational Development, Game and Fisheries, and Appropriations.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Attended Lehigh Carbon Community College in Schnecksville, Pennsylvania, for pilot training; earned a Bachelor of Science in aviation and a Master of Business Administration from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Cincinnati.
- Professional Background: Worked as a pilot for CommuteAir, Compass Airlines, and JetBlue.
- Political Experience: Parkland School District Board member ; Pennsylvania State Senate, 16th District , with leadership roles in key committees focused on government efficiency, finance, education, and economic development.
