Biography

Janine R. Boyd is a Democratic politician from Cleveland Heights, Ohio, who represented the 9th district in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022. She previously served on the Cleveland Heights City Council starting in 2012, resigned her House seat in April 2022 to join the United States Department of Health and Human Services, and later served on the Cleveland Heights City Council from February 2023 to March 2024. Notable achievements include founding the Black Maternal Health Caucus, sponsoring "Aisha’s Law" , advocating for expansions of human rights protections for the LGBT community, and proposing amendments on health policy issues during her legislative tenure. She follows in the footsteps of her mother, Barbara Boyd, a former state representative.

Education and Political Experience
