Biography
Janice Bowling is a Republican state senator representing Tennessee's 16th Senate District, based in Tullahoma. She was first elected in 2012, marking a Republican pickup of the seat—held by Democrats since Reconstruction—and becoming the first woman to represent the district in the Senate. She won with over 62% of the vote, followed by reelections in 2014 and 2020 . Bowling is known as a champion for conservative values, having stopped ObamaCare expansion in Tennessee, protected teachers' rights while advancing education reforms, promoted fiscal responsibility, supported entrepreneurs and small businesses, led pro-life efforts, honored veterans and public safety workers, and advocated for rural Tennessee.
Education and Political Experience
- Served as a city alderman in Tullahoma, fighting for essential services while opposing excessive government regulation.
- Elected Republican State Executive Committeewoman for Senate District 14 in 2010.
