Janae Shamp is a Republican Arizona State Senator representing District 29, serving since 2023. A registered nurse and perioperative nurse from Surprise , she is a pro-life constitutional conservative endorsed by former President Trump, advocating for medical freedom, border security, election integrity, and America First policies. She previously served as Majority Leader and is a scientist-turned-nurse, married rancher's wife, bonus mom, and Nana with over 30 years in Arizona.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: B.S. in Molecular Biosciences & Biotechnology ; B.S. in Nursing .
- Political Experience: Elected to Arizona State Senate District 29 in 2022 after defeating incumbent Joanne Osborne in the Republican primary and Democrat David Raymer in the general election. Won re-election in 2024 unopposed in the primary and defeating Democrat Eric Stafford in the general. Current committees : Vice Chair of Military Affairs & Border Security and Senate Committee on Rules; member of Natural Resources, Health & Human Services, and Joint Legislative Committee on DES Block Grants.
- Notable Achievements and Positions: Former Majority Republican Leader ; sponsored key bills including Immigration Bill 1231 , SB1511 , and co-sponsored SB1628 . Voted against repealing Arizona's 1864 near-total abortion ban and supported a bill allowing property owners to address trespassing migrants.
