Biography

James M. "Jamie" Murphy is a Democratic representative for the 4th Norfolk District in the Massachusetts House of Representatives, serving communities including precincts 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9A, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15, 17, and 18 in Weymouth, Norfolk County. Born on November 15, 1969, he resides in Weymouth, where his family has operated the Murphy Brothers automobile business since 1975. His parents were active in local neighborhood organizations and civic clubs. Notable achievements include being named Legislator of the Year for leading Early Voting and Campaign Finance Reform legislation, which addressed dark money and Super PAC donations. As Chairman of the Financial Services Committee, he has advocated for mortgage, credit card, and loan relief; unemployment and business assistance; expanded telemedicine access; mental health services; and support for seniors, veterans, first responders, school children, working families, and environmental protection.
