Biography
Jamie Kiel is a Republican representative for Alabama House District 18, which includes portions of Colbert, Franklin, and Lauderdale counties in Northwest Alabama, such as Red Bay, Cherokee, Waterloo, Russellville, and parts of Florence, Tuscumbia, and Muscle Shoals.
A native of Tharptown and graduate of Russellville High School, Kiel started Kiel Equipment—a company selling and leasing mowers, tractors, and other equipment—over 20 years ago while attending college; it now serves customers across Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee. He is a devoted husband to Melissa and father of three daughters, attends Tharptown Baptist Church , and is active in his community as a sponsor of school teams and events, including PA announcements for high school sports.
Notable achievements include founding the Franklin County Broadband Taskforce, serving on accreditation and federal monitoring committees for Franklin County Schools, and holding board positions on the University of North Alabama Foundation and Northwest-Shoals Community College Foundation. In the legislature, now in his second term, he prioritizes education , government efficiency from his business experience, cutting spending, and tax reform; he serves as Vice Chairman of the House Education Ways and Means Committee, and on the Insurance, Ports and Waterways, and State Government committees.
