Biography of Representative Jamie Flick

Jamie L. Flick is an American Republican politician who has served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives representing the 83rd District since January 2023. Born around 1961 in Pennsylvania, Flick represents parts of Lycoming and Union Counties in the state legislature.

Education

Flick attended Jersey Shore Area High School and earned an Associate Degree from Pennsylvania College of Technology.

Political Experience

Before entering electoral politics, Flick was a successful businessman from South Williamsport, Pennsylvania. He owned and managed Susquehanna Software, a software company based in Williamsport. In 2018, he became a co-owner of the Sydney Blue Sox, an Australian baseball team.

In 2022, Flick ran for the open 83rd District seat. He defeated fellow Republican Ann Kaufman in the primary election and won the general election unopposed. Since taking office, he has served on the House Government Oversight, Children and Youth, Human Services, and Tourism and Economic Development Committees.

Notable Achievements and Positions

Flick has championed several legislative initiatives, including eliminating emissions testing for Lycoming County, providing line of duty death benefits for coroners and deputy coroners, and supporting shared parenting laws in custody disputes. He has also advocated for reducing property taxes for veterans and senior citizens, strengthening voter identification requirements, and reducing state government size.

Notably, in 2023, Flick was the sole Republican co-sponsor of a bill to recognize same-sex marriage at the state level, demonstrating independent thinking within his party.

Under his tenure, projects in the 83rd District have been awarded $8.4 million in grant funding. Beyond politics, Flick has dedicated over three decades to community service, including roles as a court-appointed special advocate for foster children, youth coach, and volunteer with organizations like the American Cancer Society and Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
