Jamie Callender is a Republican member of the Ohio House of Representatives, representing Ohio's 57th District. This district includes eastern Lake County communities such as Concord Township, Kirtland, Kirtland Hills, LeRoy Township, Madison, Madison Township, North Perry, Perry, Perry Township, Waite Hill, Willoughby Hills, most of Mentor, and Painesville Township. A lawyer and college professor from Concord Township, he currently serves as chair of the Joint Committee on Agency Rule Review , chairs Public Utilities and Finance committees, and holds positions on Civil Justice, Joint Education Oversight, Rules and Reference, House Finance, and Judiciary committees. He also represents Ohio on the Great Lakes Commission.

Notable achievements include receiving the NRA’s Defender of the 2nd Amendment Award, two Watchdog of the Treasury Awards, and recognition for conservative leadership and K-12 education advocacy, including the Fair School Funding Plan, school choice expansion, charter school laws, and contributions to No Child Left Behind Act standards.

Education and Political Experience

• Education: Grew up in Concord Township after moving from Kentucky in seventh grade; graduated from Mentor High School; earned undergraduate degree from Cleveland State University; law degree from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law.
• Professional Experience: Practices law in Lake County ; former partner at Buckley King LPA; adjunct professor of political science at Kent State University .
• Political Experience: First elected to Ohio House in 1997, served four terms until 2004 term limits; chaired Education Committee, advancing charter schools, value-added measurements, and national standards; returned in 2019 for eighth term overall .
• Community Service: Volunteered with Lake County organizations; served on Lake County Historical Society and Mentor Public Library Board; Professorial Member, Archaeological Institute of America; Member, Masonic Lodge Willoughby 302. Resides in Concord Township near family.
