Biography
James C. Ramos is a Democrat representing California's 45th Assembly District in San Bernardino County, encompassing areas like Muscoy, parts of Highland, Fontana, Redlands, Mentone, and San Bernardino. Born January 29, 1967, he is a lifelong resident of the San Manuel Indian Reservation and a member of the Serrano/Cahuilla tribe . He became the first Native American elected to the California State Legislature in 2018 and previously served as the first Native American on the California State Board of Education, San Bernardino Community College Board of Trustees, and San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors. He is married with four children and chairs the Select Committee on Native American Affairs while serving on committees like Local Government and Select Committees on Asia/California Trade and Investment and CalFresh Enrollment and Nutrition.
