Biography

James A.R. Gregoire is a Republican representing Franklin-6 in the Vermont House of Representatives. A lifelong Vermonter born in St. Albans and raised in Fairfield, he owns and operates a convenience store. Married to Courtney since 2014, he has a son, James Jr., who serves in the Vermont Air National Guard. Elected in 2019, succeeding Daniel Connor after defeating Kelly Cummings, Gregoire has been reelected since. Notable roles include serving on the Governor’s Veterans Advisory Council under Gov. Jim Douglas, as an alternate to the District 6 Environmental Commission, Commander of American Legion Post 1 in St. Albans , and various leadership positions in the American Legion Department of Vermont, including its Education, Legislative, and Boy’s State Committees. He has also been a Lister for Fairfield since 2003 and served nine years on its Planning and Zoning Commissions, plus as a past board member of the Fairfield Community Center.

Education and Political Experience

Education: Attended Fairfield Center School; 1992 graduate of Bellows Free Academy St. Albans. Earned an A.S. in Business Management and an A.S. in Accounting from Community College of Vermont ; B.A. in Secondary Education, M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction, and M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from the University of Vermont . He is the second member of his high school graduating class to serve in the Vermont House.

Political and Military Experience: Served in the U.S. Army and Vermont National Guard . First elected to the Vermont House in 2019 as a Republican for Franklin-6 . Active in local government through town roles in Fairfield and veterans' leadership.
