Senator Jacob "Jake" Bissaillon is a Democrat representing *District 1 * in the Rhode Island State Senate. Elected in a November 2023 special election, he serves as Chair of the Senate Committee on Housing & Municipal Government, Secretary of the Senate Committee on Judiciary, and member of the Senate Committees on Rules, Government Ethics & Oversight, and Education. Education and Political Experience

• Attended St. John's Preparatory School in Danvers, Massachusetts.
• Earned a Bachelor of Arts in 2009 and an MBA in 2010 from Providence College, where his political involvement began, including organizing for Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign.
• Graduated with a Juris Doctorate from Roger Williams University School of Law in 2016; admitted to practice law in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

Political Experience: Bissaillon has extensive leadership in state and local government. He served as Chief of Staff to Rhode Island Senate President Dominick J. Ruggerio , legal counsel to former Senate Majority Leader Michael J. McCaffrey, and Chief of Staff to the Providence City Council under Council President Michael A. Solomon. His roles involved advancing key legislation, including the Act on Climate , Let RI Vote Act , Justice Reinvestment , gun safety measures , $15 minimum wage, child tax credits, and tax relief for seniors and families.
