Biography
Jacquelin Maycumber
Jacquelin Michelle Maycumber was born in 1979 and is an American politician of the Republican Party. She is a former member of the Washington House of Representatives, representing the 7th Legislative District in Northeast Washington. Maycumber and her husband Marty reside in Republic with their three children.
Education
Maycumber holds a bachelor's degree in biochemistry. Prior to her political career, she worked as a biomedical research scientist and served as a law enforcement officer.
Political Experience
Maycumber began her political involvement by serving as a legislative assistant to Representative Shelly Short and serving on the Republic School Board. In February 2017, she was appointed to serve the remaining term of Representative Shelly Short after Short was appointed to the Senate. She won her retention election in November 2017 and subsequently served three terms as Minority Floor Leader in the state house.
In February 2024, Maycumber announced her campaign for Washington's 5th congressional district. She received 13.63% of the vote in the August primary, placing third out of eleven candidates, and did not advance to the general election.
Beyond her legislative work, Maycumber brings extensive experience in healthcare policy and workforce apprenticeships. She was hired as Chief Strategy Officer at NEW Health, where she oversaw strategic planning initiatives and workforce development projects.
