Biography

Jackie Hope Glass is a Democratic member of the Virginia House of Delegates representing the 93rd District, which covers part of the city of Norfolk. An African American non-denominational Christian, she is married to Doran Douglas II and has two children, Doran III and Zahara. A U.S. Navy veteran who served as a Cryptologic Technician First Class Petty Officer, deploying in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom, she is a small business owner, diversity consultant, and social entrepreneur. Notable achievements include passing bills in the 2022 General Assembly, chairing the House Armed Forces & Veteran Affairs Committee, leading Norfolk 2045 and Just Dinner campaigns for cross-cultural relations, and affiliations with NAACP Norfolk, Black Chamber of Commerce, Ballentine Civic League , and others. She self-describes as a "Certified Doer," "Mama," and "Laced-up Legislator."

Education and Political Experience

Education: B.S. in Workforce Education Training and Development from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale .

Political Experience: Elected in a 2022 special election to the 89th District , replacing retiring Delegate Jay Jones; reelected to the 93rd District in 2023. Member since January 12, 2022. Prior roles include Navy Military Training Instructor, "A" school instructor, Course and Curriculum Manager with NSA collaboration, and Sexual Assault Victim Advocate/trainer for nine years.
