Biography

Senator Jack Woodrum

Jack David Woodrum is a Republican state senator representing District 10 in the West Virginia Senate. Born on August 4, 1963, in Hinton, West Virginia, Woodrum is a funeral director, embalmer, and restorative artist by profession. He is married to Debra A. "Debbie" Brookman Woodrum and is a member of the Baptist faith.

Education and Professional Development

Woodrum received his education from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science and holds National Board Certification in Mortuary Arts and Sciences. Beyond his mortuary science training, he has pursued additional professional development through the Tyree School of Real Estate, the NACo High Performance Leadership Academy, and the County Leadership Institute through NACo and Cambridge Leadership Associates. He has also completed training through the Mountain State Land Use Academy and Community Leadership Academy, both offered by West Virginia University.

Political Experience and Notable Positions

Woodrum serves on multiple boards and committees in Summers County and at the state level. He holds leadership roles as President of the New River Gateway Convention and Visitors Bureau and Treasurer of the New River Parkway Authority. Additionally, he serves on the Summers County Board of Health, Summers County Building Commission, and the Summers County Schools Steering Committee. He is actively involved in Republican Party leadership as a member of the WV State Republican Executive Committee, the 10th Senatorial District Republican Executive Committee, and the 3rd Congressional District Republican Executive Committee.

Beyond politics, Woodrum is a Life Member of the National Rifle Association and maintains professional affiliations with the National Funeral Directors Association and West Virginia Funeral Directors Association. He has been recognized as Summers County Champion for the "Reaching the Summit Community Service Initiative," working with the Citizens Conservation Corps of West Virginia and the Boy Scouts of America.
